Abstract. The rapid integration of artificial intelligence into our daily lives and
the astonishing pace of technological progress over the past two years prompted
us to engage in interdisciplinary conversations on AI. This paper distills insights
from conversations with over 30 AI experts, offering a wide range of perspectives
on the nature, potential, and future of AI. We explore what AI is, what it should
and could be, and what it will become, exploring long-term implications ranging
from dystopian to utopian scenarios. As we navigate this technological arms race,
we also address the ethical responsibilities and challenges that lie ahead. Throughout this volume, we present a wide range of opinions, insights, and motivations,
sharing experts’ visions and hopes for the future. By engaging in these interdisciplinary dialogues, we aim to promote a comprehensive understanding of the role
of AI in society and to encourage informed decision-making to ensure that AI
developments align with human values and aspirations.
